Class of 2011
Therese Boyle-Niego

Therese Boyle-Niego stands as one of the brightest stars in Chicago’s rich volleyball history. A standout at Mother McAuley High School, she helped lead the Mighty Macs to consecutive state championships in 1980 and 1981, earning All-State and All-American honors along the way. Her high school success paved the way for a record-setting collegiate career at the University of the Pacific, where she helped the Tigers secure their first national championship in 1985.

Therese’s impact extended beyond the court as she transitioned to coaching. At Loyola University, she turned the volleyball program into a competitive force, achieving a milestone 27-7 season in 1995 that led to the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance. Her ability to inspire and develop players is now channeled into the Elite Volleyball Program, where she nurtures the next generation of talent.

Off the court, Therese and her husband, Charlie, are raising six children, instilling in them the same dedication and teamwork that defined her career. From her days as a high school athlete to her achievements as a coach and mentor, Therese Boyle-Niego has left an indelible mark on volleyball, shaping both the sport and the lives of countless players.
