Richard M. Daley, one of America’s most influential big-city mayors, served six terms as Mayor of Chicago, with his last re-election in February 2007. Recognized by Time Magazine in 2005 as “the nation’s top urban executive,” Daley is celebrated for his transformative impact on Chicago’s infrastructure and his staunch support of sports at all levels.

During his tenure, Daley oversaw the rehabilitation of Soldier Field and added 17 acres of parkland to the city’s lakefront campus. He also spearheaded the development of over 120 acres of new parkland, along with ice rinks, recreation centers, and upgraded swimming pools, enhancing the city’s recreational offerings. Daley’s vision extended globally as he led Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games, aiming to establish the city as a premier international sports destination.
