Randy Meier is a highly accomplished thoroughbred jockey whose career spans over three decades. Born in West Point, Nebraska, Meier began his racing career in 1972 and quickly established himself as one of the leading jockeys in the sport. He achieved prominence as the leading jockey at Balmoral Park 90 times and at Hawthorne Race Course in 1991.
Meier reached a significant milestone in 1997 with his 3,000th career win aboard Monti’s Gold at Hawthorne and was subsequently inducted into the Hawthorne Hall of Fame. By 2001, he celebrated his 3,500th win with Ubiquitous Boy at Arlington Park and secured a $500,000 Gold Cup victory at Hawthorne Race Course.
A three-time nominee for the prestigious George Woolf Award, Meier is recognized for his exceptional skill and sportsmanship, as well as his enduring contributions to the spirit of thoroughbred racing. His legacy as a jockey remains an inspiration in the racing community.
