Peter Rodriguez

Pete Rodriguez, a proud South Side Chicago native, turned his passion for football into a remarkable coaching career spanning over four decades. A standout player at Kelly High School, he excelled as a co-captain before becoming a three-year starter at Western State College of Colorado, where he played both offense and defense while earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history and political science.

Pete’s coaching journey began in high school football before advancing to college programs, including the University of Arizona and Iowa State, where he gained recognition for his defensive expertise. His career peaked with nearly two decades in the NFL as a special teams coach, earning him accolades such as Special Teams Coach of the Year and Coach of the Decade honors.

After 43 years of dedicated coaching at various levels, Pete retired in 2007. Residing in Carlsbad, California, with his wife Sherry, Pete remains celebrated as one of the most respected special teams coaches in football history.
