Paul Flatley’s football journey epitomizes the balance between athletic achievement and academic excellence. A star at Northwestern University in the early 1960s, Paul was a key player in one of the Wildcats’ most successful periods under coach Ara Parseghian. Transitioning from running back to flanker, he shone on the field, earning All-Big Ten honors and Academic All-American recognition in 1962 and 1963.

Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, Paul made an immediate impact as the UPI NFL-NFC Rookie of the Year in 1963. Over his professional career, which included time with the Atlanta Falcons, Paul recorded 24 touchdowns and amassed 4,905 receiving yards, becoming a Pro Bowl-caliber player.

After retiring from football, Paul navigated a rare and successful transition into business and broadcasting. He founded Flatley Employment Services and became a beloved figure in Minnesota, working with WCCO Radio and the University of Minnesota football broadcasts.
