Class of 2012
Otis Wilson
Chicago Bears

Otis Wilson, a standout linebacker, made his mark with the Chicago Bears after being their #1 draft pick in 1980 from the University of Louisville. Playing for the Bears from 1980 to 1988, Wilson was instrumental in one of the NFL’s most formidable defenses, earning Pro Bowl honors during the 1983-84 and 1985-86 seasons. His leadership on defense contributed to the Bears’ victory in Super Bowl XX, where his hard-hitting style earned him the nickname “junkyard dog.”

After retiring from football, Wilson transitioned into broadcasting, sharing his insights as a commentator for ABC affiliate WREX in Rockford, Illinois, and hosting post-game Bears shows featuring other Chicago sports legends. He has worked with major networks like ABC, WGN, FOX, and WBBM, and now collaborates with Kevin Matthews on radio CD94 in Chicago.

Beyond football, Wilson is a philanthropist, founding the Otis Wilson Foundation, which supports children in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Through initiatives like his fitness camps and mentoring programs, Wilson has positively impacted over 10,000 kids in the Chicagoland area. Residing in Chicago, Wilson is a proud father of three.
