​Lee Smith

Lee Smith made his major league debut with the Chicago Cubs in 1980 who were struggling to a last-place finish on September 1, 1980, against the Atlanta Braves. He pitched a scoreless inning and recorded his first MLB strikeout. This pitcher made 18 relief appearances through the end of this season, pitching to a 2.91 ERA with a 2–0 record. His contribution to the Cubs didn’t stop with that season, he continued to pitch lights out for the next 7 years with the team, changing their trajectory for years to come.
