Chicago Bears

Ken Geiger has dedicated over 60 years to organized football. A graduate of Fenwick High School in Oak Park, he was a key player on their standout teams that competed in the 1945 and 1948 Kelly Bowls. Geiger attended Monmouth College, excelling in both football and baseball, earning all-conference honors as a guard in 1952 and letters in baseball. After college, he served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War.

Geiger’s coaching career spanned more than 30 years, leading successful football and wrestling programs at Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois. From 1983 to 1993, he worked with the Chicago Bears as a college scout, pro player evaluator, and advance scout, also serving in similar roles with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. During his time with the Bears, the team won seven division titles and the 1985 Super Bowl championship.

Instrumental in promoting American football abroad, Geiger spent nine years teaching the game to youth in Europe as an NFL ambassador and clinician. For his efforts, he was honored with the Gold Medal of Sport by the German Chancellor in 1987 and inducted into the Royal Society of Health in London. A pioneer of Illinois state football championships, Geiger was inducted into the Catholic League Hall of Fame in 2000. Married to his wife Sheryl for 52 years, he is the proud father of five children, Gary, Kevin, Eric, Joni, and Susan.
