Keith Van Horne was an exceptional athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track at Fullerton Union High School, where he earned three varsity letters. At the University of Southern California (USC), he became a dominant offensive tackle, earning All-Pac-10 honors for three consecutive years and consensus All-American recognition in his senior year. He also had the distinction of blocking for two Heisman Trophy winners, Charles White and Marcus Allen, and was the runner-up for the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best interior lineman.
During his time at USC, the Trojans boasted an impressive record of 50-8-2, including four bowl appearances. Van Horne was drafted by the Chicago Bears, where he played as a starting tackle for 13 seasons. His tenure with the Bears was highlighted by a Super Bowl XX championship in 1985. Known for his durability and consistency, he concluded his career with the third-most starts in Chicago Bears history, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the franchise’s most reliable players.
