Katie Schumacher-Cawley

Katie Schumacher-Cawley is a celebrated athlete and coach who gained recognition for her outstanding volleyball and basketball career at Mother McAuley High School, the largest all-girls Catholic high school in the United States. In 1996, she was named Player of the Year in both basketball and volleyball, and in 1997, The Chicago Sun-Times honored her as Female Athlete of the Year. Schumacher-Cawley earned All-Conference honors in both sports throughout high school.

At Penn State University, she continued to excel, being named to the All-American Volleyball Team and All-Big Ten Team during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Over her collegiate career, she achieved 1,310 kills, 299 blocks, and 722 digs, solidifying her place as one of Penn State’s top volleyball players.

After her playing career, Schumacher-Cawley transitioned to coaching and is now in her fifth season as the First Assistant Volleyball Coach for the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her legacy as a player and coach continues to inspire the next generation of athletes.
