Class of 2012
Jennie Finch
USA Olympics

Jennie Finch, heralded as one of the most dominant and recognizable softball players of her era, pitched for the USA National Softball Team and the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch league. She led Team USA to a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics and a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics, with Time magazine referring to her as “the most famous softball player in history.”

Finch’s softball journey began at the age of five. Excelling in multiple sports, she lettered four times in softball and twice in basketball and volleyball at La Mirada High School, serving as team captain in all three. Her college career at the University of Arizona further cemented her legacy, where she was a three-time All-American and twice won The Honda Sports Award. In 2001, she set an NCAA record with 60 consecutive wins and concluded her senior year with a total of 1,028 strikeouts.

She achieved perfection on the mound with a perfect game for the Bandits in 2009 and another in 2010. Off the field, Finch dedicated herself to promoting the sport and inspiring young women. Married to MLB pitcher Casey Daigle, with whom she has two sons, Finch retired to spend more time with her family. As the Chicago Tribune noted, Finch leaves a spotless legacy, continuing to inspire generations of female athletes who play for the love of the game.
