A proud alumnus of the University of Notre Dame, Dave Casper exemplifies excellence both on and off the field. After moving to Chicagoland and attending St. Edward Central Catholic High School, Dave made a name for himself as an All-American and Offensive MVP during Notre Dame’s 1973 National Championship season. Excelling in the classroom as well, he graduated cum laude with a degree in economics and was inducted into the Academic All-American Hall of Fame.
Drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 1974, Dave’s career in the NFL was marked by legendary moments. Nicknamed “The Ghost,” he was pivotal in iconic plays like the “Ghost to the Post” in the 1977 playoffs and the “Holy Roller” in 1978. Over his 13 seasons in the league, Dave recorded 378 receptions, 5,216 yards, and 52 touchdowns, earning five Pro Bowl selections and a spot on the 1970s All-Decade Team.
Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002, Dave has continued his legacy of success in his post-playing career as a financial advisor. Living in California with his wife, Susan, Dave remains a revered figure in the NFL community and among Notre Dame alumni. His journey from standout athlete to respected professional is a testament to his enduring commitment to excellence.
