Class of 2026

Glen Grunwald

Glen Grunwald, born June 13, 1958, in Chicago, rose from the prep courts of Franklin Park to the front offices of the NBA. At East Leyden High School, he became the only player ever selected All-Chicago Area four times and was named Illinois Player of the Year in 1976.

An injury at Indiana redirected his playing career, but he captained the Hoosiers to the 1981 national championship and was drafted in the fifth round by the Boston Celtics. He earned a J.D. from Northwestern Law and an MBA from Indiana, returning to basketball with the Denver Nuggets in 1990.

Grunwald became general manager of the Toronto Raptors in 1997, engineering the Vince Carter trade and guiding the team to three straight playoff berths. He later served as GM of the New York Knicks, CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade, and athletic director at McMaster University. He remains senior advisor to the Memphis Grizzlies and executive advisor of Canada Basketball, and is the father of three: Gabe, Emma, and Willis.
