Charles P. Carey, serving as the Chairman and President of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, is a distinguished and esteemed figure in both the Chicago business and sports community.

In 1996, Mr. Carey was bestowed with a profound honor when the founders of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, George Connor and Ed Kelly, entrusted him with the role of custodian for this prestigious institution. Since then, he has been at the forefront of preserving the rich sporting heritage of the Chicagoland region, while also celebrating the remarkable achievements of legendary athletes.

Charlie’s journey in sports began at Oak Park and River Forest High School, where his passion for football took root. Continuing his athletic pursuits, he became a football player at Western Illinois University, graduating with a degree in Business in 1975.

Under Mr. Carey’s visionary leadership, the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame has flourished, elevating its prominence through various stages and forging invaluable partnerships with venues, charitable organizations and strategic sponsors.

Apart from his remarkable contributions to sports, Charlie has had a stellar career in the financial industry. He served as Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) from 2003, Vice Chairman from 2000 to 2002, and First Vice Chairman during 1993 and 1994. Notably, he played a key role in taking the CBOT public in 2005 and spearheading a transformative merger with CME Group in 2007. Currently, he holds a distinguished position as a member of CME Group’s board of directors.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Carey’s commitment to community and philanthropy is reflected in his role as the Chairman of the CME Group Foundation and his extensive involvement in various charitable initiatives.

Residing in Western Springs with his wife Linda, Charlie takes immense pride in being a devoted father to his sons Charlie, Matthew, and Jack.
